Daily Deviation

Given 2005-02-23
"This is an aquatint on three zinc plates - I used old off-cuts from the scrap drawing (A good source of free materials to muck around with and the odd sizes often result in strange compositions.) Otherwise, they're textures formed from the mingling of turps, rosin, bitumen and water." stream II by *pawwwprint is one of deviantART's most excellent abstract prints. Wow...nice. Zinc plates you said? I wanna work with that too... I only have work with lime stone and mono so far. Will go to alumi and maybe copper, but I doubt ever zinc.

I wish the transition is smoother between the left and center plate, though. They are so separated as of now.

Oh God, those TEXTURES. They are amazing in ways for which I can find no words, I love. And tinted in such lovely shades... I adore it.

Deff looks like chin colle, way to go to use photoshop to work around it. Doing prints I remember always trying to find new textures and youve acomplished that beautifully

I love this. The textures and layers look stunning together, enhanced by their slightly nonmatching color. I think you'd maybe like the work of Julie Meheretu :)

thanks :) - the briefest peek at your gallery has sewed the seeds of intrigue... so a closer look seems in order. I googled Julie Meheretu -definitely liked what images I found. knits with this thing on shoals and flocks I've been thinking about. I'll have to follow it up in the library sometime. thanks for mentioning her and I love your signature.. -l.

Gorgeous. Did you use some kind of chin colle technique for those square shapes?

Excellent abstracted print with plenty to see. Your lines, the patterns, the tones....great work.
Tell me, is this a zinc plate cut?
